Kabarak High Tops In KCSE With Record-Breaking Grades, Sends All 401 Candidates To University

• Kabarak High School has topped the 2023 KCPE with a mean grade of 10.43 and a 100% transition to universities

Moi Kabarak High School appears to be the winner of the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results released on Monday, January 8.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu unveiled the results at Moi Girls High School.

How did Kabarak High perform?

Kabarak, a private institution, achieved a commendable mean grade of 10.43, aggregating the scores of its 401 candidates.

The detailed breakdown includes 62 students with A grades, 155 with A- grades, 102 with B+ grades, 60 with B grades, 18 with B-grades, and four with C+ grades, according to Nation.

Remarkably, all students attained university-grade scores, ensuring their eligibility for higher education.

"The results are very good. We have 62 As, 155A-, 102B+, 60B, 18B-, and four C+ grades, giving us a mean score of 10.43 and a 100% transition to university.

As a result, we are so excited. We are happy for the parents who have all their children excelling and going to university. I congratulate all our students for working extra hard and putting in their effort to ensure that they do well at the end of the day. We are happy and thank God for the results," she said.

How many students will be joining universities?

The Ministry of Education had ceased ranking schools and students.

According to the results released by Machogu, 201,133 students attained university mean grades.

"The number of candidates who attained the minimum university entry qualification (Grade C+ and above) was 201,133 (22.27%) in the 2023 KCSE Examination compared to 173,345 (19.62%) in the year 2022. This is as a result of the application of a new grading system," Machogua stated.

Of the candidates, 1,216 obtained A, a 0.13% increase compared to 2022's 1,146.

"There were 1,216 (0.14%) candidates who obtained an overall grade of A in the 2023 KCSE Examination compared to 1,146 (0.13%) candidates in the year 2022," Machogu added.

However, other 48,174 students got an E, prompting an investigation into their disappointing results.
