Former Sauti Sol vocalist Bien-Aime Alusa Baraza performed at the Blankets and Wine festival on December 17th, wowing the crowd with his captivating vocals.

The show went well until a woman known only too well to Bien went up on stage.

The talented artiste could not hide his joy at the sight of his mother.

With help from the singer's wife, Chiki Kuruka, who chased a woman for trying to dance suggestively with Bien earlier this year, his mother came to Nairobi to surprise and support him.

She stood on stage, dressed in a black dress with a bouquet in hand.

An elated Bien tearfully embraced her before introducing her to the audience and explaining why he got so emotional when he saw her.

The Ma Cherie hitmaker disclosed that his father has been ill, and his mother has been taking care of him. As such, she had not attended any of his recent shows.

"My dad has been very sick and for the last couple of months, she hasn't been able to come to Nairobi because she has been busy taking care of him but... 'mum, I didn't know you had time to come and watch the concert today," he said.

Bien then sang his song Awinja to her, to the delight of fans who sang along with him.

The singer shared a video of the sweet moment on his Instagram, appreciating his mother, wife and fans.

"Blankets and wine yesterday was beautiful. It was my 1st show performing the album, and my Mum came all the way from Kakamega to surprise me. @chikikuruka thank you for this. To the beautiful fans, I’m forever grateful to you all for walking this journey with me. The album has barely been out for a month, and you sang the songs word for word. It was spiritual," he wrote.

Bien on the name of his album Alusa

In the video, the singer revealed that his mother was the inspiration behind the title of his latest eponymous album.

He stated that it all started when Sauti Sol did the raunchy song Nishike.

In the song's video, Bien and the other Sauti Sol members were shirtless, showing off their toned bodies.

Consequently, when the singer's mother saw the video, he says she called him asking why he was shirtless.

It was this statement that would become the title of his solo album.

Bien goes viral with new album release

Bien released the album in question on Friday, November 17th, and within hours of dropping it, it had already gone viral.

The album features several songs, including one much-anticipated collaboration with Scar Mkadinali.

Also in the album is the song True Love, which Bien debuted at the Colours X Studios.

Other tunes include My Baby, featuring Nigerian singer Ayra Star, Legend, Lost and Found, and Ma Cherie, among others.
