Nairobi - Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa now wants President William Ruto to immediately sack Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir and his National Treasury counterpart Njuguna Ndung'u.

According to Barasa, a close ally of the president, the two CSs have failed to inspire confidence in Kenyans.

"To me, there are two ministers who should be sacked immediately. Davis Chirchir and Njuguna Ndung'u. When you are the CS in charge of the National Treasury and you are telling Kenyans that Kenya as a country is broke, what is going to happen is that investors are going to flee this country. The stock market is going to crumple to a halt," said Barasa.

Barasa, elected on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket, went on:

"If you're in charge of Chirchir's docket and you tell Kenyans that fuel process can even to KSh 300 then you have a problem. If you are the minister in charge of electricity and you tell Kenyans to prepare for power rationing then you have failed them."

Why Musalia Mudavadi, Kithure Kindiki were ranked best

Barasa, while reacting to the recent TIFA survey, observed that Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Interior CS Kithure Kindiki were ranked best in terms of visibility.

"You will agree with me that 95% of Kenyans know Musalia Mudavadi. They know him by recognition because he is a household name. He has been around for a long time. Kithure Kindiki has also been in the limelight. He almost became our running mate and he has been very visible even in the media combating banditry and other forms of crime," Barasa added.

While appearing on TV 47 on the morning of Thursday, December 14, Barasa exuded confidence that most Kenyans may not know who is the CS for lands.

"Because these are people who are quite. You won't see them even on the media talking about issues that affect Kenyans. When you are a Cabinet Secretary you need to blow out issues which Kenyans would feel that you are doing things that would improve their lives. CSs who are not visible, who are quite are ranking very low," explained Barasa.

Why Mt Kenya leaders want Davies Chirchir out

TUKO.co.ke reported that some governors from the larger Mt Kenya region had made calls to President Ruto to fire CS Chirchir over the frequent power outages.

Muthomi Njuki (Tharaka Nithi) and Mutahi Kahiga (Nyeri) called on the head of state to crack the whip.

Kahiga said the president should send home cabinet secretaries who he observed were failing his government.
