Dorcas Gachagua Pleads With Kenyans To Remain Sober During Christmas: "Behave This Season"

Nairobi - Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, the wife of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has appealed to Kenyans to avoid taking alcohol during the festive season.

In a video shared by Citizen Digital, Pastor Dorcas cautioned drivers against driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Dorcas Rigathi's Christmas message to Kenyans

In her festive season message to Kenyans, Dorcas urged them to stay sober during Christmas.

Gachagua's wife, who has been at the forefront of fighting drug abuse among youths, said for the country to remain productive, Kenyans need to stay sober.

“I want you to remain sober so that we can have a productive and prosperous nation. I want you to celebrate alive, as I have always been saying. I want you to celebrate the way you want. I want you to celebrate sober,” Pasto Dorcas said.

According to Dorcas, many Kenyans have lost their lives through road accidents, arguing that the pattern would change during this festive season.

“As you drive, drive sober. We must be careful the way we behave this season. Let us not lose lives while we can control ourselves,” she added.

Why the government cautioned against Christmas travels

Meanwhile, the government asked Kenyans travelling during Christmas and New Year festivities to be alert due to the ongoing El Nino rains.

Addressing the press on Sunday, December 10, Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura said many roads have been washed away because of floods, which might endanger road users.

Mwaura cautioned motorists against driving ahead of heavy downpours, saying visibility is poor on most roads.

"While planning for your travel upcountry, we may not have the latest update on the condition of the road we are trying to use. It is thus advisable not to drive when it is still raining and especially when the visibility is less than 100 metres, which might compromise your safety," Mwaura said.
