A video of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya gifting a young barefooted player his expensive shoes moments before a football match has moved many Kenyans.

The governor was captured taking off his shoes and stepping on the ground with just his socks on after he offered his shoes to the player.

This happened as he presided over the Trans-Nzoia County Governor's Cup over the weekend, and the gesture has since warmed the hearts of many netizens.

The governor was seemingly touched by the player's plight as he was set to participate in the local tournament barefooted.

"This is a testament to what servant-leadership is all about. I send you my salaams to you, governor," a Kenyan said.
"May God bless you for your humanity," Anne Njoroge commented.
"Natembeya is a very good person," Nasimiyu said.

The Governor's Cup, presided over by the governor brought together all the 25 wards from Trans Nzoia also playing in the Tournament that is set to climax on December 24.

Eating contest during tournament

During the event, there was an eating competition where participants completed smashing a huge loaf of bread and a 2-litre soda.

While others struggled to finish the bread and soda, a woman and a man managed to finish within the set timeframe.

The winners were awarded KSh 2,000 by the Trans Nzoia governor.

This is not the first time that the governor is touching Kenyans with his acts of kindness.

He stunned people after meeting the viral nurse who was recorded dancing for a sick child in the hospital a year ago.
