A Kenyan actor has expressed regret and anxiety after using his salary without proper planning during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

Going broke after enjoying festive season

Khaleed Abdul, one of the main characters in the local TV series Classmates, said in an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke that he had already spent seventy per cent of his December salary.

“I spent badly during the festivities. I have just checked my account and realised my December salary is almost depleted. I have spent 70% of it. I am just wondering how I will survive this January. This is unbelievable. I wish I knew,” he said.

Abdul admitted that he was carried away by the festive mood and did not budget well for his expenses.

“I wanted to enjoy myself and make others happy. I thought I had enough money to last me until the end of January. But I was wrong. I did not keep track of how much I was spending,” he said.

He added that he did not save money for emergencies or investments.

Abdul’s story is a common one among many Kenyans who receive their December salaries early and waste them during the festive season.

Why did Khaleed turn down KSh 1.2m?

In a past interview with TUKO.co.ke, Khaleed revealed he declined a whopping KSh 1.2 million deal from a liquor company, citing his religion's strong stance against the consumption of alcohol.

The talented actor's principled stand reflects his dedication to endorsing products that align with the values of his community and the Muslim religion.

"I recently turned down a KSh 1.2 million brand ambassadorial deal with a liquor company. They wanted to use my image and voice in promoting their products, but I refused because my religion strongly condemns this," Khaleed said.
