Kiambu County Bans Popular Park And Chill Parties Held Near Tea Farms

Kiambu County administration has issued a stern warning to the youth who have been flocking to the scenic tea farms in Limuru and Githunguri for roadside parties.

The county commissioner, Joshua Nkanatha, announced that such parties are illegal and will not be tolerated.

Nkanatha made the remarks during the Jamhuri Day celebrations in Kiambu on Tuesday, December 12, where he said that the government is concerned about the park and chill hangouts that involve alcohol.

Why did government ban park and chill parties?

He said that these activities pose a threat to the security, health and morality of the county residents.

“These are not just innocent picnics. These are gatherings where young people drink excessively and engage in sexual activities. We have received reports of noise pollution, littering, vandalism and immoral cases. We are saying that these games we have banned them completely,” he said.

He added that the county security committee has teamed up with the county government to ensure that anyone consuming alcohol in a given area must have a valid operating permit.

He said that the roadside parties do not have any permits and they also hire DJs to play loud music.

“We will not allow anyone to turn our county into a party zone. We will conduct regular patrols and crackdowns to ensure that such kind of behaviour comes to an end. Anyone found violating the law will face the full wrath of the law,” he warned.

Nkanatha also urged the authorities to be vigilant as the festive season approaches.

He said that the county expects an influx of visitors from other counties and countries, and that they should ensure that the citizens are safe.

“We do not want to hear about alcoholism and be wary of illegal aliens. It is time for every leader, whether they are in uniform or not, to make sure that we end this problem. We want to maintain the peace and order in our county and protect our environment and culture,” he said.

Government warns lovebirds using forest for bedroom affairs

Previously, local officials warned couples who had turned a natural forest into a green lodge in the Girango district of Migori county.

Citizen TV reported that on Saturday, August 12, the authorities conducted a crackdown in the forest under the direction of Suna-Oruba location Chief Charles Ouma.

Several lovebirds narrowly avoided their dragnet.
