Mum Who Was Told She Had Near-Zero Chances Of Surviving Childbirth Gives Birth To Beautiful Baby

In December 2023, Gracie Sigarroa received news that no mother wishes for: that her chances of surviving childbirth were one out of 10.

This was after doctors diagnosed her with Placenta Percreta, a medical condition where the placenta protrudes from the uterus.

Gracie underwent operation

According to ABC30, the risk in Gracie's case was even higher because the placenta was stuck to her bladder.

The resilient woman, however, overlooked the imminent threat and braved the pregnancy, giving birth to a beautiful baby girl.

On Tuesday night, she started bleeding heavily and was rushed to Stanford Medical Center, where she underwent an operation.

A few hours later, baby Evangeline was born, albeit prematurely at 28 weeks, weighing 1.19kgs and 14 inches long.

"She's a real tiny little girl," Evangeline's dad, Seth Sigarroa, said.

Given that the little miracle was born three months earlier than expected, she will remain at the hospital for monitoring.

That Gracie pulled through the detailed procedure and came out alive left the doctors amazed.

"I honestly am just shocked that I'm alive. I lost 7 litres of blood. It took about nine hours. Literally, every bit of blood in my body was replaced," she said.

Even though the process was painful, and she was left with a large incision, the new mother was adamant that she wouldn't mind another delivery.

Gracie's hubby relieved

Evangeline's dad expressed joy that his wife and baby were still alive and recovering well.

"I told her earlier that every time I see her, I feel relieved. I'm just really happy that she's still with us and that our daughter will be okay," he said.

Gracie was diagnosed with Placenta Percreta while 18 weeks pregnant, a development that made her scared she would leave her husband alone to raise the kids.

The family now focuses on celebrating their new addition; as much as they know, she still has a long way to full recovery.
