Police showing up at the scene picked up the body and booked it into the City Mortuary ahead of autopsy and identification.

In similar tragic news, a Nakuru teacher died after a fast-moving train hit him killing him on the spot.

The helpless primary school teacher could not escape death after he got stuck on the railway line, where he was hit by a passenger train on Thursday, January 12.

According to police, the teacher was crushed beyond recognition; he is said to have crossed the line at an undesignated point.

Nakuru fatal train accident

The locomotive's engineer, according to the officers, strived to miss hitting him but all was in vain.

The train had hooted repeatedly but the teacher could not save himself.

"I got information that a civilian was crushed by a train. It was coming from the Nakuru station, heading to Gilgil. It encountered the man when it reached Mediheal. Unfortunately, he was hit by the train and died on the spot.
"When I arrived at the scene with my officers, we found the body badly crushed and it could not be identified immediately," said Said Chungi Kisalo, the Railways sub county police commander.

The police boss said that the process to trace the deceased's kin was underway after his body was taken to the Nakuru county morgue.

Kisalo suggested the man would not have met his death if only he used an appropriate crossing point.

He called on those near the line to use the designated pedestrian points to avoid such accidents in the future; the police boss ruled out any malice by the engineer of the train, stating it was a normal accident.
