Nakuru: Twins Imprisoned For 20 Years Delighted To Reunite With Family In Prison

Nakuru - It was a rare day for Nakuru Main GK prisoners as they marked the Jamhuri Day celebrations with their friends and families.

Among the inmates were a set of twins who had the opportunity to reunite with their loved ones in prison.

Charged with robbery with violence

After a long time, Cliff Mokua and Edwin Mokua were delighted to see their lovely wives and beautiful children.

The 38-year-olds who were charged with robbery with violence expressed their joy after binding with their families.

"What we are happy with is sharing with families," one said as he narrated how he and his brother ended up in prison, as captured in KTN News Kenya.

It was unfortunate that witnesses lied, which saw them end up in jail to serve their term for two decades.

Imprisoned in Nakuru GK prison since 2012

They had been in jail since 2012 and had not seen their family members until Jamhuri Day, when they had a good time.

The twins were over the moon as they were visited with goodies by their beloved family members, who were equally excited to spend precious time with them.

Other inmates were also happy to come in contact with friends and families, forgetting their loneliness for a moment.

"It might sound strange, but I wish this could happen more often. Not just once a year, but every holiday, every chance we get. It's a lifeline for both the inmates and us, the families. It humanizes the whole experience and helps us see beyond the mistakes or choices that led to this situation," Ambrose Ombogo shared.

Abdulswamad Nassir visits convicts in Mombasa

In another story, Abdulswamad Nassir visited prisoners, paid fines and secured the release of petty offenders on Jamhuri Day.

The Mombasa Governor was paying fines and securing the release of petty offenders with sentences of less than six months to give them a second chance at life.

The politician chatted with some inmates at Jela Baridi and spent time with the bedridden prisoners, and Kenyans praised his gesture.

"Congratulations, you are real. You are applying reality," a netizen commended him.
