Rosie: Viral Kenyan Nanny Defends Lebanese Employers Against Accusations They're Using Her

Rozah Rozalina Samson, aka Rosie, has been the subject of social media conversation since her emotional departure from Lebanon, where she worked as a nanny.

Rosie rose to fame over the weekend after a viral video captured her bidding her bosses farewell as she left Lebanon for Kenya.

Her employers' four children burst into tears, clung to her, and caused a scene at the airport as they struggled to convince her to stay.

Kenyans concerned about Rosie's working conditions

In a live video on TikTok after her departure, Maria Cataleya, the mother of the kids, begged her to return to Lebanon, adding that she needed six nannies to fill the void left by Rosie.

Since then, several videos showing her having beautiful moments with the kids and her employers have surfaced.

The developments made a cross-section of Kenyans question the nanny's working environment, with many concluding that she was being overworked and exploited.

Others expressed concerns that the employers were using her for fame by recording every video of the good deeds they did for her.

Rosie has, however, come forward to defend her bosses against the accusations, affirming that her employers had consistently been kind to her even before the viral moment.

She expressed that the sentiments have disturbed her mind because her employers are genuine people, and the tears were not faked.

“Those people loved me from the day I went there. They accepted me and treated me very well from day one,” she said in a YouTube video by Ayfacts Hub.

Rosie was quick to admit that not every immigrant in Lebanon has good bosses and that she has witnessed several heartbreaking incidences of cruelty meted out to others.

Why does Rosie look unhappy?

Apart from the accusations, some social media users questioned why the diligent nanny seemed unhappy in most videos.

In a video shared on TikTok, Rosie is seen with little Maria and her sister in a playground, accompanied by their mother, who recorded the moment.

In the clip, the celebrated nanny looked sad and lost in thought and only smiled towards the end, prompting some netizens to conclude that the family didn't treat her well.

"Rose holding it together not to break and suddenly the angels are at her side," wrote Weila.
