Tana River - The two Members of Parliament who went missing yesterday, Saturday, December 2, have been found safe after an intense rescue operation.

Garsen Member of Parliament Ali Wario and his Galole counterpart Said Buya Hiribae went missing while distributing food on Saturday.

A report by the Daily Nation indicates that the two lawmakers and 16 others who were on the missing motorboat were found on the dawn of Sunday, December 3.

Tana River County Commissioner Mohammed Noor said the four were found in the middle of the Tana Delta at around 4am.

Hiribae revealed that they were lost in the raging waters of River Tana.

"We didn't know where we were. The river has burst its banks, and all the villages are flooded, so any route looks like a shortcut, and that's where we went wrong," he said.

2 KRA officials swept away by floods

Two weeks ago, the bodies of two officials from the Kenya Revenue Authority who were swept away by floods in Kwale were retrieved.

The KRA officials were journeying along the Likoni-Lunga Lunga highway in Kwale from Lunga Lunga.

The bodies of the duo were retrieved along with the remains of a 23-year-old boda boda rider.

On Sunday, November 19, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo announced that the Land Cruiser, which was ferrying two KRA officials, had also been retrieved.

Ruto speaks on ongoing floods

President William Ruto recently lamented the ongoing heavy rains in Kenya and parts of the Horn of Africa region.
