YouTuber Betty Kalekye Introduces Mzungu Boyfriend To Parents In Colourful Traditional Ceremony

Kenyan YouTuber based in America, Betty Kalekye, has officially introduced her Mzungu boyfriend, Tyler, to her parents in a colourful ceremony.

The couple recently toured Kenya to make their union formal and meet Kalekye’s family members who were all delighted to welcome their new in-law.

The ceremony was attended by close relatives and friends who wore orange-themed African outfits to match the occasion.

Kalekye’s mother was especially overjoyed to see her daughter’s partner and expressed her happiness in a heartfelt speech.

“I’m Kalekye’s mother and all I can say is that I am very happy because I did not expect to get a Mzungu in my family,” she said while wearing a big smile.

Other family members also congratulated the couple and wished them all the best in their relationship.

They praised Tyler for his respect, love for Kaleky, and willingness to embrace their culture.

The couple, who were dressed in matching floral African outfits (vitenge), also shared their joy and gratitude with the guests.

Tyler thanked Kalekye’s family for accepting him and showing him immense love.

“This means a lot to me. You guys even don’t know me and you have welcomed me with open arms. I would like to thank everybody for the love,” he said.

How did Tyler and Betty feel?

Kalekye also revealed that the ceremony was part of their tradition and that she had mixed feelings of joy and emotions.

“It was both emotional and joyful. For me, it was just never thought I would get to such a moment celebrating my love towards someone. Tyler was wowed and it takes a lot to wow him! He also did not believe my family waited for us at the airport until 3.30am including the kids. He felt so welcomed and accepted and he really loves my family now,” she said.

The ceremony ended with the two lovebirds cutting a sumptuous cake and feeding each other before sharing it with the guests.

What happened when Betty met Tyler?

In a separate story, Betty had a heartfelt and emotional experience when she met Tyler's mother for the first time.

As the YouTuber finally came face-to-face with her mother-in-law, tears of joy rolled down her cheeks.

Similarly, her mother-in-law reciprocated the enthusiasm and warmth, embracing her daughter-in-law with open arms.

"I finally met Tyler’s parents for the first time ever! It was an emotional trip and I’m happy with the steps we are making," she wrote in the video.
