In a Monday, July 24, news release from the N.C. Education Lottery, Neely described the moment she discovered her incredible win.

Initially, she believed someone else had claimed the jackpot when she saw her first ticket displaying a $20,000 (KSh 2,844,800) prize.
However, upon closer inspection, she found herself holding the winning ticket, sending her spirits soaring with joy.
"It is a life-changing amount of money," Neely expressed, trying to come to terms with her newfound fortune.
Neely cries tears of joy all the way home
The unexpected windfall left her so overwhelmed that she admitted to crying tears of happiness all the way home.
Neely's winning ticket was a $10 (KSh 1,422) Fast Play ticket she purchased on July 7 at a Kangaroo Express convenience store in Rockwell.
The unique aspect of her ticket was that it entitled her to 100% of the progressive jackpot since she invested in the $10 option, as confirmed by the lottery officials.
Neely collected her impressive prize money on Friday, taking home $515,678 (KSh 73,350,038) after accounting for state and federal tax withholdings.
With her life transformed by this reversal of fortune, Cynthia Neely now has grand plans for her newfound wealth.
Convincing hubby to retire early

"I’m going to try to talk my husband into retiring soon," Neely revealed with enthusiasm.
