She donned a black hat and a yellow dress with white stripes, seemingly matching the colour of the plants and completed the look with black gumboots.

She walked around the farm inspecting the sunflower while striking several poses.

Charlene disclosed that they planted the sunflower to strengthen the bee colonies. She then delved into how the crops were beneficial to the honey makers.

“Sunflower is rich in pollen which is literally food for the young bees. The additional benefit is that we will harvest the sunflower seeds to replant and, once in bulk, to sell.”

Charlene admitted that it was fun walking among the sunflower fields, and watching the bees forage was therapeutic.

“I also believe in the collaborative efforts of both men and women in beekeeping, as we all bring different strengths to the table.”
