Dishi Na County: Unknown People Disrupt Johnson Sakaja's School Feeding Function In Ruaraka

Nairobi - Chaos were witnessed in Baba Dogo Primary School in the Ruaraka constituency during a feeding program event.

In a video shared by NTV, people and pupils sitting inside tents with decorations of the Nairobi county government signature colours pensively listened to speeches made on the podium.

Commotion behind the tents

As the master of the ceremony was making announcements, commotion behind one tent was witnessed as unknown people chanted inaudible songs.

Fortunately, the security officers on location protected the learners from harm.

Members of County Assembly asked the crowd to keep calm and give the governor time and space to implement his projects.

Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja and his team were launching a school feeding program dubbed 'Dishi na County'.

"Our children are missing a third of their education, our parents are stressed and the economy is bad. The stress of providing lunch for your children has now been removed," Sakaja said.

The school feeding program

The event was not the first, as the governor and President William Ruto partnered to launch the first feeding program at Roysambu Primary School.

County Executive Committee (CEC) Suzanne Silantoi said they want to feed over 200,000 learners across Nairobi.

Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang lauded the Nairobi governor for selecting the Ruaraka constituency to feed children at Baba Dogo Primary School.

"Governor, we want to thank you for choosing Ruaraka and Baba Dogo, to launch this big project that will go to the heart of a regular person living in Nairobi," Kajwang told Governor Johnson Sakaja.

Why did Sakaja cry?

Sakaja's administration launched the Nairobi County School Feeding program, which President William Ruto attended on Tuesday, June 20.

In his speech, Governor Sakaja said the programme was meant to give dignity to the school-going children who have been going without food.

At one point, the governor was overwhelmed with emotions while narrating how public schools in the county lack proper infrastructure.

Sakaja painfully narrated how some buildings operate as a church on Sunday before being converted to school on Monday.
