Gatundu Man Who Survived Night Attack That Left 4 Dead Narrates Ordeal: "Aliniitisha Shillingi Kumi"

Kiambu - A Gatundu man has chillingly narrated how he survived the gruesome attack that occurred on the night of Monday, August 14.

The man was among the five people who were attacked last night by a group of unknown people in Gachugi village in Ngorongo, Gatundu North Constituency.

What did Gatundu survivor say about attack?

In a video shared by Citizen TV, the man, identified as Tobias, narrated that the attacker asked him for KSh 10 before he knocked him unconscious.

"I have been hit as I was going to buy food. I was attacked whilst here at the centre. He actually just said two words to me 'give me 10 shillings'. I became unconscious the moment he hit me. It was around 8pm," Tobias said.

He decried the insecurity cases that have been on the rise in the area and called for intervention from the county and national governments.

"There was a similar incident that occurred a while back and this time, I hear I am the only survivor as four other people have been killed," he added.

Tobias, who had a bandage on the left side of his face, called for investigations to determine the motive and the suspect of last night's gruesome attack.

Night of terror in Gatundu

James Mwangi, a resident in the area, said the four men who died in separate attacks had similar injuries that appeared to have been caused by a blunt object.

"Their heads had been smashed with what we suspect is a metal rod or an axe. At first, we thought it was a hit-and-run accident when we saw the first victim but later discovered three others along the road. The entire village is in shock," Mwangi said.

One of the victims was returning home with a bottle of milk when he was attacked, while another was brutally killed as he returned home with a kilo of meat.

"We don't know if we will be leaving our houses anymore because you go out to buy sugar, and you are killed on your way home. The government needs to step up security in this region. We are living in fear," a resident narrated.
