A Boston couple's wedding plans have taken an unexpected twist as their golden retriever's mischievous antics have thrown a wrench into their preparations.

Groom finds his passport eaten through by his dog

Donato Frattaroli and Magda Mazri are grappling with a bizarre predicament after their one-year-old golden retriever, Chickie, chewed through Frattaroli's passport.

According to Good Morning America, this happened just weeks before the couple's scheduled flight to Italy for their anticipated wedding reception on August 31.

The couple's wedding stress heightened when Donato stumbled upon his passport in a less-than-pristine state on Chickie's bed.

Playfully referred to as Chicken Cutlet, the dog had managed to snag her owner's blue passport booklet and tore through multiple pages.

The groom shared his reaction, recounting how Chickie's demeanour changed after her daring feat.

Couple seek to expedite passport replacement

"She kinda knew what she did, and all of a sudden, she got really cuddly, you know, head on the lap kind of thing," he said.

With the clock ticking down to their big day, the couple sprang into action, exploring all avenues to salvage their international plans.

Magda went as far as reaching out to local congressional representatives in the hopes of expediting the passport replacement process.

The couple clings to optimism, holding onto the belief that Donato's new passport will arrive in time to ensure their dream of an Italian wedding becomes a reality.

"I'm optimistic it's going to work out," Mazri conveyed.

How will the wedding proceed without the groom?

Nonetheless, the possibility of a delayed passport replacement has led to a contingency plan.

Should Donatoe's new passport fail to arrive promptly, Mazri and their wedding guests are prepared to travel to Italy without the groom.

While Donato remains in Boston, the group would commemorate the joyous occasion abroad, eagerly awaiting the reunion that will mark the beginning of their life as a married couple.

As their wedding date inches closer, the tale of Chickie, the passport-munching golden retriever, has captivated the public's interest.

Amidst the turmoil caused by Chickie's unexpected actions, the couple's resilience and bond with their four-legged friend have become a source of inspiration.
