Hassan Joho, the former Mombasa governor, is known for his jet-setting lifestyle encompassing luxury vehicles, designer clothes, and private flights.

What's inside Joho's KSh 23m Mercedes Benz Maybach?

Nicknamed 001, Joho’s beard and fashion sense won him a legion of female admirers and arguably convinced some Mombasa voters.

On Wednesday, August 16, the politician shared a video leaving his home in one of the world’s most luxurious SUVs.

The clip depicted Joho leaving his mansion wearing a three-piece suit and tie.

He strolled over to the vehicle as one of his workers opened the back left door for him.

The footage also captured the Mercedes emblem and the word Maybach engraved on the front grille.

Joho's Maybach did not have a license plate at the front, presumably as it was still brand new.

The vehicle goes for around KSh 23 million before taxes, shipping fees and other levies and is the second one spotted on Kenyan roads.

The first one with Tanzanian license plates was first spotted in May.

What makes Joho's Mercedes Maybach GLS unique?

The vehicle is the epitome of luxury and class and boasts impressive features.

According to Maybach USA, the essence of the GLS is to serve comfort, safety and convenience via multiple senses.

It boasts a virtual voice assistant and a panoramic sliding sunroof with an automatic rain-closing function. The SUV is tailored for chauffeured owners, and the back seat with ample leg room can be adjusted into a sleeping position. GLS owners are cocooned in an interior with sound insulation, reducing noise from the outside.

The vehicle was tailored for ultimate comfort and has an adaptive damping system to ensure a smooth ride. The system automatically adjusts itself to the speed, driving conditions and load.

Powering the SUV is a powerful 4.0-litre bi-turbo petrol engine producing 550 horsepower.

Its showstopper feature allows the SUV to ‘dance’ in bounce mode. It uses the suspension to bounce the SUV up and down.
