"Ni mimi tu ama hii Worldcoin ni utapeli? naona watu watalia." (Is it only I who sees Worldcoin as a scam. Many will shed tears).

The sudden and overwhelming interest in cryptocurrency has sparked debate and prompted authorities to caution Kenyans to be wary as they sign up.

The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) in a statement, wrote:

"As the ODPC conducts its assessment of Worldcoin's practices to ensure compliance with the law, Kenyans are urged to ensure that they receive proper information before disclosing any personal or sensitive data. Individuals are advised to thoroughly inquire about how their data will be used."

Andrew Kibe claims Worldcoin is scam

Media personality Andrew Kibe noted that Kenyans should become suspicious about Worldcoin stating the deal was too sweet.

He noted that the only place people can make money is when they work.

"This is where you will probably get anything. This place is called work," he said.

In a YouTube video, Kibe advised Kenyans against falling for cryptocurrency scams.

"What small brain do you have that you think there is a place you can go and make money off the internet just like that?" he posed.

According to Worldcoin, WLD is a cryptocurrency initiative with the goal to establish a universally accessible identity and financial network collectively owned by the global community.

The identity system relies on iris biometrics (scanning eyeballs) to authenticate personal data and establish a person's unique identity across the world.
