Nairobi - A woman has opened up about her flourishing relationship with her Iraqi boss, who she regarded as a mother.

Susan Akinyi Khatchina said her boss played a crucial role in helping her build a house for her family back home.

Living in dilapidated house in Kakamega

Akinyi said she needed money to upgrade her family's shelter as they lived in a dilapidated house that was falling apart.

Narrating to TUKO.co.ke, Akinyi said she approached her loving boss to ask for money to start her project.

"When that house had fallen to the ground, I asked my employer to loan me KSh 800, 000 and she accepted. So she gave me the money, and I started the building project as I worked to pay the loan," she said.

Paying back loan from salary

Akinyi, who hails from Kakamega, said the money was neither part of her salary nor cut from it at the end of the month.

However, she was diligent in paying back from her salary as she could, bit by bit, to fulfil her obligation to pay back the loan.

"She gave me a waiver of about KSh 270, 000," she said, adding it was a great relief from her end.

The entrepreneur also shared that her boss helped her with funds to bury her grandfather, which she did not ask to be repaid.

Kakamega woman builds rentals with Saudi money

In another story, a Kakamega woman who worked as a house help in Saudi Arabia bought two land parcels and built rental houses.

Linet Omusula became a landlady after she built rentals on one parcel of land she bought after becoming a house girl in Saudi, like a Kisii woman who toiled in the Gulf for four years.

She looked into building her own home before she returned home from the middle-east country.

"Saudi has made me a proud person. It has removed me from grass to grace. It is possible for a house help to achieve anything in this life. People have achieved their goals through this job," she said.
