Nairobi - Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has outlined a clear condition for his recognition of William Ruto as the President of Kenya.

Kalonzo emphasised that his acceptance of Ruto's presidency hinges on the transparency and veracity of the data stored within the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) servers, shedding light on the outcome of the fiercely contested 2022 elections.

Speaking on Star TV, the Azimio la Umoja co-principal stood resolute in his stance, stating that they will recognise the head of state once servers are opened.

"The opposition has not yet officially recognised Ruto as the democratically elected President of our nation. Our position is contingent upon the satisfaction of our demand for the opening of the IEBC servers, which we believe contain the unvarnished truth regarding the victor of the hotly debated 2022 polls," Kalonzo said.

The Wiper Party leader's assertion underscores his conviction that the server data holds the key to resolving the lingering uncertainty surrounding the election results.

He firmly believes that the revelation of authentic figures will pave the way for a harmonious acknowledgement of the rightful winner.

However, he also expressed a degree of scepticism, stating;

"If the server will be opened and the truth be known under the constitution, then there will be no problem to recognise him. However, we are mindful of the powers vested, as we observed the seamless transition of power from Uhuru Kenyatta."

Kalonzo's reference to the transfer of authority highlights the complex dynamics at play within Kenya's political landscape.

The Ukambani leader underscored his principled stance against those who manipulate their positions for personal gain, stating;

"I take issue with individuals who resort to any means necessary to grasp power. This is not a matter of personal interest; it's about upholding a steadfast position. If a unified stand is reached, particularly within the Azimio La Umoja coalition, I will be at the forefront to ensure our collective commitment to safeguarding our nation's democratic values."
