Kilifi: Speeding Prado Ferrying Bhang Worth KSh 9m Nabbed After Crashing Into Ditch

Kilifi - The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced seizing a consignment of bhang.

The recent weeks have witnessed a multi-agency crackdown on drug abuse, trafficking in narcotics and sale & consumption of illicit brews.

How did police stop the traffickers

In a statement on Monday, September 4, the detectives revealed that the bhang was being ferried in a high-end Toyota Landcruiser Prado.

The SUV was reportedly speeding before it reportedly got a puncture that saw it veer off the road and land in the ditch.

According to the investigative agency, the seized banned substance was 316kg, which they said could go for at least KSh 9 million in the market.

DCI stated that they recovered numerous number plates, including parastatal plates that come with their privileges.

"The bhang was stashed in seven gunny bags ferried along Kaloleni - Mavueni route in the registration plates KBQ 580K, KBZ 528N, KDA 639A & KDC 947C (the latter akin to parastatal vehicles) were found," DCI reported.
