Kimani Wamatangi Breathes Fire As MCAs Plot To Impeach Him: "Nichukieni Kabisa"

Kiambu - Governor Kimani Wamatangi is a man under siege as Members of Kiambu County Assembly (MCAs) plan to impeach him.

The MCAs accused Wamatangi of being unable to work with other leaders in the county, terming him a lone ranger and slow infrastructural developments.

They've also chastised Wamatangi for failing to fully constitute his government for better service delivery one year after taking office.

Led by Githiga Ward representative Ruth Waithera, the MCAs criticised Wamatangi for failing to submit the names of the chief officers to the assembly.

Wamatangi defends himself

Responding to the threats by the MCAs, Wamatangi stated that he was unbothered by their threats and would continue serving Kiambu residents.

He claimed he was being targeted because he had sealed the loopholes that saw Kiambu funds go into individual pockets.

Wamatangi stated that the threats would not scare him and that he was ready to stand by his actions and the truth.

The county chief questioned how he could be accused of stealing from Kiambu residents, yet he was raised by a single mother who had to struggle like the people of Kiambu to sustain him and his siblings.

"What I did was I said the money of Kiambu people is going back to the basket of Kiambu, and no one is touching it anymore. Let those who dislike me do so wholeheartedly, and those who scheme against me continue to do so, but there is God in heaven.

I have refused even to let Kiambu's land be grabbed, which is why you see me being targeted by the wealthy who love exchanging money. I stated that when I was in the seat, I will stand strong, and God is before me – He's the one who brought me here and provided me with an opportunity for you to choose me," he said.

Senator Karungo warns Wamatangi

Earlier, Kiambu Senator Karungo Wa Thang’wa also joined the MCAs in criticising Wamatangi’s leadership style, arguing that his lack of cooperation is affecting the county's development.

The senator regretted that Wamangati had not changed his style of governance despite interventions by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

“We started with the mediation meeting, but it did not work. I even asked the Deputy President to invite us to a meeting with the governor, and in the meeting, he was addressing irrelevant issues like being removed from a WhatsApp group,” Karungo said.
