Residents who responded to the sounds of the gunshots revealed that the businessman informed them that the attackers were two, and one of them was in a police uniform.

'We responded to the gunshots, but before he died, he told us they were two people, one of them was in a police uniform," Samuel Kiama, a resident said.

While eulogizing the deceased as a good person, the resident suspect the killing was as a result of business rivalry as nothing was stolen from him during the time of the attack.

"We suspect it is a business rivalry because they stole nothing and this is the second incident as the first incident they stole money in his wholesale shop at Ngurubani," Kiama stated.

6 people killed in Garissa county

In other sad news, six people were killed while travelling to Hulugho on Borokey Road, from Garissa Town.

Among those killed in the Wednesday, August 16 attack were five students who were heading home to spend time with their relatives during the holiday.

According to Northeastern Regional Commissioner John Otieno, the deceased were travelling in a Toyota Probox when the gunmen ambushed them and shot them at close range.

Regional boss John Otieno said preliminary investigations showed the attack was due to an inter-clan conflict and that the attackers were on a revenge mission.

“The victims were asked to identify themselves before they were shot at close range. All the deceased are from the same clan. The suspects are pundits and we believe they were after revenge over an earlier incident. Through our intelligence, we have been able to arrest one key suspect who will help in nailing down the remaining suspects," Otieno said.
