Kisii county - A family from South Mugirango is in mourning after their patriarch was murdered by suspected robbers.

The now-deceased was a retired teacher.

According to his kin, the robbers accessed the house through the store; they are said to have ransacked the house stealing valuables and money before carrying the man out of the house.

"One of them entered the store and called in the other ones. In the sitting room, they took the battery and inverter, in the kitchen, they took all cooking gas cylinders, and in the bedroom, they made away with all the valuables and money.

They then took him out of the house and descended on him with machetes. They came back to me and demanded my phone pin. I gave them my number and then they took my KSh 12,000 and left with my phone and that of my husband," said the wife.
