Who knew that one day the city of Nairobi would be teeming with electric buses? Well, although they have been in the city for some time, there was a long queue of them ahead of the highly -anticipated Africa Climate Summit.

According to the African Union, the Africa Climate Summit presents an opportunity to showcase Africa's green growth potential and explore financial and development solutions for a climate-resilient Africa.

One of the summit's outcomes is drawing a commitment to take to the global summit, including the upcoming COP28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

On September 4, a lot of green buses were spotted in Nairobi between City Hall and the Kenya International Convention Centre (KICC).

The buses were from various companies among them Citi Hoppa and Embassava, and they drew a lot of attention from curious city dwellers.

Metro Trans Ltd unveils 5 new electric buses

In May, Metro Trans Limited became the latest bus company to go green after unveiling five electric buses in the capital Nairobi.

The buses were launched in partnership with Basi Go, an e-mobility start-up looking to revolutionise the public transportation sector.

The company noted it offered free rides to Utawala on Thursday, May 11, to appreciate its customers.
