Mzungu spent her inheritance on Maasai husband's family

TUKO.co.ke has in the past, highlighted several love stories of Maasai men and Caucasian women, and that of Stephanie Fuchs and Sokoine is one of them.

Previously, Stephanie, a Mzungu woman happily married to a Maasai from Tanzania, documented her love life on Instagram.

The mother of one recalled the day she arrived in Tanzania on January 4, 2022, as a wildlife volunteer for a si months programme, but she ended up overstaying. In January 2011, she moved to Mafia Island in Tanzania for work, and it was there that she met the love of her life Sokoine.

In January 2012, the lovebirds decided to settle down, and Stephanie revealed they moved to her man's rural home to stay in the traditional Maasai homesteads.

"I spent all the money I inherited when my parents died on cattle for Sokoine’s family. I wanted to live there, and I wanted to live with him, so I invested everything I had to make sure we would be able to live a good life in tune with the traditional values of the Maasai," she said.

Things weren't easy for the Mzungu woman, who was forced to adapt to the new culture.

"It was difficult adapting to his culture, following the rules of gender segregation, never having alone time with him, learning the language, getting used to the food and trying to find my place within his family," she said.

Stephanie revealed her relationship with Sokoine wasn't perfect at first, and it took her time to gel.
