Kenyans have called on former presidential candidate George Wajackoyah to step in and defend Mathe Wa Ngara.
Why Kenyans want Wajackoyah to defend Mathe Wa Ngara
Real name Nancy Kigunzu, the woman was arrested in Nairobi’s CBD on Monday, August 21, over allegations of peddling bhang in Ngara.
She allegedly went on the run after police raided her premises on Tuesday, August 15, and seized 25 sacks of bhang and KSh 13 million in cash.

The sting operation led to the arrest of 54-year-old Teresia Wanjiru, initially believed to be Mathe Wa Ngara. However, it later emerged that she was not the mastermind behind the operation.
Amid the high-profile case, Kenyans called out Wajackoyah over his silence.
The politician’s manifesto proposed the legalisation of bhang, and many felt that he should do something about Kigunzu’s arrest.
Some questioned whether his advocacy for legalisation was legitimate or was just playing politics.

In other news, the family of Wanjiru raised concerns over her whereabouts.
On Tuesday, the court was to rule on the bail application by Wanjiru.
The woman, who was detained at the Muthaiga Police Station, could not appear before Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Magistrate Njeri Thuku, with her family and lawyers now raising concerns.
The court would, however, fail to rule on her bail application after she could not be traced.
NTV reports that the magistrate ordered that she be availed in court on the morning of Wednesday, August 23.
