"Dear Kenyans, well-wishers, Mr President, Mr (Francis) Atwoli. I remember meeting you at the airport while coming to India last year. Thank you for the support you've given me so far," she said in the video.

Kidney transplant in India

Wanjiku sat in the hospital bed next to her distressed father, Walter Kabitta Njoroge, and said they were halfway through the money for her operation.

She shared she was scheduled for a kidney transplant but needed the finances to secure the important operation.

"Please help me with the remaining part. Thank you," she faintly said as her father cut off the video.

Tough life in India

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the stressed Njoroge said life had been tough in India, trying to survive with their little money.

"We are pushing on. We are trying our best to see Fyona has gotten the treatment needed, but it is difficult. I appreciate every person who has faithfully and cheerfully supported us, but we still need more support," he noted.

Nairobi musician dumped after donating kidney

In another story, a Nairobi man said her ungrateful lover dumped him after he donated his kidney to her mum.

Edwin, a 23-year-old hip-hop musician and producer who lived in Nairobi, claimed he only had a few years to live.

He met his girlfriend when he was a driving instructor, and she asked him to donate a kidney to her mum, and he agreed, foregoing KSh 8 million in the process.

A good deed done out of love nearly cost him his life as he attempted to take his own life 12 times as his only remaining kidney was not working well.
