A heartwarming moment unfolded at Precious Blood High School as Member of Parliament Irene Mayaka's son, Tyron Jabali, delivered an inspiring speech, leaving students and parents in awe.

Why was MP Irene Mayaka's son at Precious Blood?

The touching moment was captured in a video shared by the member of parliament on her Facebook page during a prize-giving function at Precious Blood on August 12, 2023.

In the video, Mayaka introduced her son Tyron, who she proudly acknowledged was much taller than herself and is currently in Form Two and asked him to address his peers.

"As you have heard, I am Tyron Jabali, a very, very proud son of... here, I don't call her mum, I call her mheshimiwa, juu hadi mimi hapa inje ni kama raia," he said eliciting laughter from the crowd.

He went on to express his gratitude for the opportunity to visit Precious Blood, a school his mother had schooled at.

Tyron explained how his mother constantly praised the school, saying,

"Every time I am with her, she's like, 'Ohh, Precious Blood, I studied at Precious Blood. Every time she is like, 'Eeh, that school was so good.' So I was like, one day, I will come and see the school she keeps talking about, and today I'm so happy to be here."

Tyron's speech took a thoughtful turn when he shared his educational experience.

MP Mayaka's son says public schools are better

He revealed that he attends Nova Pioneer Eldoret, a private school, and commented on the debate about schooling in public versus private education.

"I have heard people speaking a lot about private schools, I do not know what people have against private schools. But it is true, secondary education is more of a good experience when you are in public, that I really accept," he remarked.

He concluded his speech with encouraging words for the current Form Four students at Precious Blood, adding he was sure they would perform well in the KCSE exams just as his mum and other alumnae did.

Mayaka shared the video to celebrate her son's 16th birthday and express her deep affection for him.

"16 years ago at exactly 4 pm , after 4 hours of excruciating labour, I brought forth a 3.9 kgs baby boy, my greatest earthly possession and achievement by miles," she wrote.

"Happy birthday Tyrone Jabali Omwoyo, and thank you for making parenthood a breeze, You are blessed beyond measure Son, and may the good Lord keep blessing you beyond your wildest dreams," she added.
