Nairobi-Nakuru Highway: 1 Dead, Several Injured After Grisly Accident Involving 10 Vehicles

• A boda boda rider perished in a road accident on Wednesday, August 2 along Nairobi-Nakuru Highway
• The rider, who was travelling to a funeral in Siaya county collided with a car resulting in 9 other vehicles getting involved in the accident
• According to emergency responders, the accident was attributed to fog which impaired the motorists' vision

Limuru - One person has died following an accident at Murengeti area along the Nairobi - Nakuru Highway.

Citizen TV reported that the Wednesday, August 2 accident which involved 10 vehicles and a boda boda rider, left six people injured.

"One person is feared dead and 6 passengers sustained injuries following an accident at Murengeti area along Nairobi Nakuru Highway this morning. The accident involved 4 Vehicles and a Bodaboda. Motorists are advised to take caution due to fog along that stretch," an alert issued by St John's Ambulance read.

The boda boda rider who collided with one of the cars was reportedly rushing to attend a funeral in Siaya County.

According to emergency responders, the accident was attributed to fog which impaired the motorists' vision.

"Motorists approaching Ngarariga, Lari, Kimende, and Kinungi are advised to take caution following a series of road accidents that have occurred here this morning. Currently, there is limited visibility due to fog along that stretch of the road," St John's Ambulance added.

Five pupils die in accident

In other sad news, five pupils were among the casualties in a road carnage along the Webuye-Eldoret road.

Citizen TV reported that the deadly crash occurred on the evening of Saturday, June 24, near the Chemoi black spot.

The learners from Busia's Ebenezer Academy were aboard their school bus when it rolled over after being rammed on the side by a heavy truck.

To die on the spot alongside the pupils was the bus's driver as their colleagues and teachers sustained serious injuries.

Busia governor Paul Otuoma issued a statement commiserating with those who lost their loved ones.

"My sympathies and prayers to the Ebenezer Academy fraternity following a road accident involving their school bus at Kaburengu along Eldoret-Malaba Highway. The pupils and teachers who were from an academic trip in Eldoret got involved in the fatal accident. My sincere condolences to the families that lost their loved ones as we pray that Lord God heals the survivors recuperating at Webuye hospital," he said.
