Nandi Family In Pain As Class Eight Daughter Goes Missing Months To KCPE: "Alitoroka Usiku"

A family in Nandi county is in agony as their child, who is a Class Eight candidate, went missing without a trace three months before the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams.

Jebet is a polite child

In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Cheryl Jebet's mum, Millicent Cherono, said that Jebet left their home on May 7, a day before they reopened school on May 8.

"We had just taken supper when she left for her room. She ran away into the night and never gave us a reason for her decision," said Cherono.

"Jebet has never been a troublesome child; she is polite and shy. She is normally very jovial," added Cherono.

Girl seen in Eldoret

Jerono revealed that a few days after Jebet's disappearance, someone spotted her in Cheptonuk.

"When we followed up, we learnt she left the area and was spotted near Taro College with some girls. Unfortunately, the girls left her alone, and she just followed a girl who was headed to Eldoret and from there the trail just went cold," she said .

"My message to my daughter is just come home and sit for the exams; don't let all those years and the money we have spent go to waste," she continued.

Kitui girl goes missing

Elsehwere, the parents of Catherine Wangare Nganga, a 14-year-old Form One student, were distressed when she went missing from home.

In a distress note left behind, the teen expressed her dissatisfaction with school and stated her reluctance to return there.

She also requested that her family refrain from worrying about her whereabouts, citing personal issues that she needs time alone to address.
