Nairobi - A hurting young lady has opened up about her bitter relationship with her cruel stepmother.

Lydia Wanjiku Nyakola lost her biological mother when she was young, prompting her father to remarry.

The father died in a fateful road accident, and after a while, her stepmother was married to another man.

"I had to drop out of school to take care of my siblings because of the amount of work I was doing at home. I would wake up very early in the morning to do house chores. My step mum did not give me rest and mistreated me for nothing. I did not have freedom in that house. Life was tough," she said.

The young lady from Nyandarua fell pregnant at 14, and her step mum, who had a hand in the pregnancy, did not care for her.

Working on farm while 7 months pregnant

She forced Wanjiku to work on the farm despite being with a child and denying her food and water.

"She didn’t care, but graciously, I did not have any complications. She gave me food only once a day, and I was pregnant. If I ate during the day, her children would tell her, and she would beat me.
Sometimes she would tell me to till land, even when I was seven months pregnant. I would peel and eat raw potatoes from the farm," she noted.

Cruel step mum form Kisumu

Elsewhere, a Kisumu man said his dad remarried three months before his mum died, and the step-mum mistreated him.

Kevin Omondi vividly recalled and described his struggles being raised by a cruel stepmother before his mum died.

As noted in Phelix Makanda's video, the man from Kisumu said his step mum would give him too many responsibilities that he had to quit school.

He would also be greeted with blows and kicks anytime the step mum found her son or daughter crying.
