Makueni - Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga has downplayed the experience of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance dialogue team.

Addressing residents of Emali town in Makueni county, the ODM leader claimed that President William Ruto's side sent a weak team to the renewed bipartisan talks.

How Raila rates Kenya Kwanza team

The former prime minister likened the Kenya Kwanza team led by National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah to a third-division squad selected to face a stronger first-choice team of the opposition coalition.

"We have now agreed to have talks, and our team is led by Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, that is Azimio's first 11. They brought us, third division team," Raila said.

The ODM leader, accompanied by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, was on the way to attend the funeral of one of the protesters who died during the Azimio demos in July.

Homa Bay man at Boma of Kenya

Meanwhile, a Kenyan politely interrupted Kalonzo and Ichung'wah as they addressed the press about the status of the bi-partisan talks they co-chair.

On Monday, August 14, as Kalonzo addressed the press at Bomas about the agendas and structure of the talks, a Kenyan who was neither a member of the 10-team man nor a member of the press cut into the conversation.

The man, who identified himself as Michael Otieno said he had travelled from Homa Bay.

With him, he said, was a memorandum containing what he and other Kenyans had discussed and wanted to be addressed by the committee constituting political leaders.

"As an interested party in the national dialogue based on the national principles of good governance and a patriotic citizen, I had to pay my own coin to travel all the way here. We have our memoranda which we would like to submit to the committee.
"If you look at the committee it is made up of politicians. The dialogue in Kenya should be people driven, not leader-driven dialogue and the issues need to come from the people of the republic of Kenya," said Otieno.
