Senator Cherargei Says Azimio Is Jealous Of Ordinary Kenyans Who Had Lunch At Sagana State Lodge

• He claimed that former president Uhuru Kenyatta never invited ordinary Kenyans for such treats in State House or state lodges
• The senator also argued that Azimio la Umoja politicians were pained to see President William Ruto receive fanatic support from Mt Kenya

Over the weekend, President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua honoured one of their elections' campaign pledges by inviting Kenyans for lunch at Sagana State Lodge.

Sagana State Lodge is situated in Kiganjo town, Nyeri county, the backyard of Gachagua.

Photos of Kenyans devouring chunks of sumptuous foods at Sagana ignited varied reactions online, majorly, sarcastic congratulatory messages to Gachagua for fulfilling his manifesto for the people of Nyeri.

The DP, during the campaigns had promised to invite the locals to the State Lodge to eat rice and meat if they would elect them and being the truthful man that he has proclaimed himself to be, has fulfilled the pledge.

Sagana State House lunch invite

Sagana's spectacle also attracted criticism from supporters of political parties, other than Kenya Kwanza who questioned if the lunch invite was a sustainable way of countering the high cost of food and living in the country.

However, Cherargei equated such criticism to jealousy and misplaced anger, saying that Azimio la Umoja leaders could not imagine seeing ordinary Kenyans dining with Ruto and Rigathi without VIP invitations.

"The anger you see from Azimio - OKA minions is that ordinary Kenyans without VIP invitations are having lunch with the President Ruto at State House and State lodges which was out of bounds for holloi polloi yet they are public offices," Cherargei said.

Uhuru, Raila handshake time

According to Cherargei, during the tenure of Uhuru Kenyatta, after having a handshake with Azimio la Umoja Kenya leader Raila Odinga, State House and lodges were a preserve of the high and mighty.

"Under Tinga /Uhuru handshake gov't, it was only a preserve of elites and had been converted to alcohol bar," the senator claimed.

He also chest thumped that Azimio la Umoja was unhappy that Ruto received a warm reception in Mt Kenya where Uhuru enjoyed popularity during his first tenure and before falling out with his then deputy.

"Another anger of Azimio-OKA and Uhuru political orphans is that Ruto has received warm and fanatic reception in Mt. Kenya region in his development tour," the senator said.

Cherargei remains to be Ruto's key defender and has in some occasions made sensational utterances in his defence of the head of state.
