Siaya - A family in Pap Yamo village is reeling with pain falling the tragic murder of their 39-year-old kin at his parents' home.

Alloyce Ochieng' Nyapola, the deceased, is said to have been attacked by two suspected hired goons who beat him to death.

Ochieng's would-be killers reportedly accosted him while he was milking cows. They confirmed who he was before descending on him with blunt objects.

Ochieng's mother, Rosemary Akinyi, recounted the events leading up to his son's death, narrating that he saw the men ask him his name before beating him with the wooden club.

Akinyi said she got out to help Ochieng', but they turned their wrath on him as he begged them to iron out the issue peacefully.

Ochieng' already wounded, attempted to seek refuge inside his house, but the assailants sustained their onslaught, injuring his wife, Millicent Adhiambo, as she tried to intervene.

“My baby was sleeping in the house, and I started to plead with them. One of them said, "Move aside, I will kill you! Step aside, let's deal with your husband first!" They assaulted him, and I continued to plead with them to let me take the baby. Eventually, they agreed... My hand was swollen; I couldn't even carry the child,” Adhiambo told Citizen TV.

Post-mortem exam shows cause of death

Ochieng's cousin Sadiq Otieno Nyapola expressed his disappointment at the incident, maintaining that the attackers were on a well-planned mission.

Sadiq said the post-mortem exam on Ochieng's body showed he died after fracturing his ribs and heart.

“I was one of the guys who attended the post-mortem, where we met with the DCIO (District Criminal Investigations Officer) and the doctor. The post-mortem was conducted very well, and the cause of death was identified. The post-mortem revealed that he had broken ribs, and the heart was ruptured, probably due to a forceful impact. As a result, breathing (inhalation and expiration) was definitely difficult,” he said.

Assailants torch Siaya family's house

In a separate incident, a family in Nyagondo, Gem, was left counting losses after everything in their house was burnt to ashes.

Maurine Ogelo told TUKO.co.ke that their parents sleep separately from their children, which might be what saved them.

She explained that her sleep was cut short by the crackling sound made by glasses as they broke due to the heat from the fire.
