The victim, identified as Lightness Elia, a 26-year-old teacher in the region, had been reported missing by her family after failing to return home around July 25, 2023.

According to area leader Juma Raibu, who spoke to Ayo TV, the local authorities were alerted to her disappearance, launching an investigation into her whereabouts.

The startling discovery occurred on Tuesday, August 22, when guards patrolling the sugar plantation alerted officials that a dog had dragged a body to the fence surrounding the farm.

The area supervisor, Charles Ibrahim Mwakaja, was bewildered at the find.

According to him, the area has high-security measures, making it unlikely for trespassers to access the area unnoticed.

"We have never encountered incidents of dog attacks or wildlife infiltrations within this vicinity," stated Mwakaja during an interview with Ayo TV.

Family confirms body belongs to kin

"There are many dogs in this area. Because neighbouring communities do not domesticate their animals, especially dogs and the area is also known to have wild animals," he added.

Raibu disclosed that Elia's family had reported her missing on July 25. The family adhered to laws that required a missing person to be reported after 24 hours if they were last seen in an area deemed dangerous.

Raibu revealed that the victim was last seen wearing a gown, a coat, and a distinctive pouch with braided hair.

The identification of the body was made possible by recognising Elia's distinctive braided hair, the attire she was last seen in, and the bag she carried on the day of her disappearance.

The grief-stricken family confirmed that the body belonged to their missing kin, leaving them devastated by the tragic outcome.

Raibu indicated that initial signs suggested Elia might have suffered a painful demise, potentially involving assault or a broken neck.

Hubby of missing woman found dead disappeared

In a separate report, a family in Naivasha was devastated after a woman who had been missing for days was found dead with some of her organs missing.

The disappearance of Peris Murugi happened on April 12, 2023, in the company of her husband, who said that they were on their way to the hospital when she went missing.

However, a report by Inooro TV indicated that the woman was found dead a few days ago, and confusingly, her husband's whereabouts are also unknown.

The man had gone on TV to appeal for help to find Murugi, whom he said was mentally ill.
