Uasin Gishu - The National Police Service has been under fire following their conduct during the anti-government protests called by Azimio.

The service has been accused of using excessive force that led to the death of numerous protesters across the country.

On Monday, August 21, there was chaos in a vast piece of land owned by athletics legend Kipchoge Keino.

The Kipkorom-Kemboi family have claimed ownership of the Kazi Mingi farm and has a court order that granted them ownership of the 150-acre piece of land.

Keino has maintained ownership of the land, arguing that he bought the land in 1972.

The land tussle left five people injured as the police dispersed the groups that had invaded the massive estate.

Police were once again put in the spotlight for their handling of the incident, where they wanted to stop the demolition of some of the structures on the land.

Why are the police being criticised

A video has shown when a police officer threw a tear gas canister at a man sitting under a tree.

The man took some time to run away from the choking smoke before he merged, holding his cutches on one side as he tried to flee from the toxic smoke.

Kenyans who watched the video pointed out that he tried to move without the crutches before finding it painful, as others argued the main he might be feeling from the ordeal.

Laurence appealed for calm and encouraged open dialogue to address the country's social, economic and political grievances.
