Beloved Kikuyu gospel musician Hezekiah Ndungu, known as Hezeh, has been hospitalised and is now asking his fans to help him raise money to treat the condition.

Hezekiah counts second week in hospital

Speaking on a live Facebook session with philanthropist Karangu Muraya, Hezeh, who started his illustrious music career 32 years ago, revealed that he had been hospitalised because of diabetes.

"Visiting Hezeh Ndung'u who has been admitted in hospital for the last two weeks...speedy recovery, daddy...you can support him through his number 0700331166," said Muraya.

"Our dad, we will hold you; don't worry. Your children are here, and they are saying they love you and remember you," he added.

Hezeh says he's had diabetes for five years

Some of his followers accompanied Muraya, and they intermittently broke into song during the online fundraiser held from the hospital room.

Hezeh, who looked frail, looked on as they sang some of his popular songs and eventually joined in.

"I have had diabetes for the last five years," he told Muraya who was recently hospitalised with the same condition.

During the online fundraiser, there was an outpouring of love from the public, with some praying for him, while others fondly remembered growing up listening to his songs blaring from their parents' old-fashioned radios.

Hezeh asks for help to launch music book

In another story, Heze, who boasts 127 recorded songs, recently compiled them into a book called Nyimbo cia Kugooca Ngai (songs to praise God).

He appealed to fans to help him launch the project by raising funds.

My people, I need you to help me make this launch to be very beautiful. We are also working on an app that will entail the lyrics of the songs for people who don't know the words of the songs," he said on March 30.
"Give me my flowers when I am still alive, and I will bless you," said the popular artiste on Hiram Kamuhunjia's YouTube channel.
