"Na mkumbuke ng'ombe imeenda hatuna ng'ombe imeenda, hatuna ng'ombe ya kukamua na mama ni mzee, nikakuja nikangoja World Cup ikapita hatukuenda. (Also remember that we had lost our dairy cow and so we had no milk back at home. World Cup came and went but still we never travelled)," he recounted.

The victim spoke in Eldoret town when he appeared before an inquiry by the Senate Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare.

He claimed that when he confronted the founder and director of the recruitment agency Judy Jepchirchir, she told him that then-deputy president William Ruto had cautioned her against taking young people abroad.

"Kwenda kuuliza Judith akaniambia rais amemuuliza akipeleka vijana Qatar nani atampigia kura? (Judith claimed that Ruto asked her who would vote for him should he take all the youth abroad but I told her that we could still vote in the diaspora)," he added.

The victim also recounted how he was kidnapped after a TV interview by people working for Judith over his stance on the matter.

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that a group of residents decried being scammed by the recruitment agency.
