His unique content resonated with viewers, leading to a massive following and turning him into a recognisable face on social media.

"When I started content creation, I never imagined going viral and becoming a celebrity. I usually feel good when people like my videos," Tonnie said.

Despite his viral popularity, Tonnie revealed that he is yet to earn any money from TikTok.

He values fame over financial gains and believes that genuine appreciation from his audience is the ultimate reward.

Tonnie said he doesn't ask for gifts from his fans because he hates bothering people.

From employment to self-employment

The content creator's journey to self-employment was driven by a strong desire to avoid traditional employment.

He shared that he had only been employed once, but quickly decided to pursue self-employment by establishing his shop.

"I don't like employment, so I established my shop. I decided to look for money so I could set up my business and avoid employment one day. I worked as a motorbike operator to avoid being employed. I have only been employed once. I gave up on it," Tonnie said.

Tonnie Mpole living the dream

Tonnie's transition from employment to self-employment has proven to be his right choice.

As a shopkeeper, he feels fulfilled and content, knowing that he is living his dream.

"When I was young, I wanted to be a businessperson. I'm currently living my dream," he continued.

Tonnie Mpole shades government

Previously, the funnyman cracked many Kenyans up while passing a very important message to the government over failed promises.

Tonie took issue with the government's declarations on the prices of unga, where officials insisted the prices had gone down but wanainchi were still buying the precious commodity at over KSh 200.

"At this point, the government should not tell us anything, just implement it and we will only see with our own eyes. To tell Kenyans that unga is KSh 170 should stop. They should go and tell the neighboring countries because we are the ones who buy those products and we know their actual prices," lamented Tonnie.
