William Ruto Accuses Judges Of Colluding With Notoriously Corrupt Government Officials

• President William Ruto claimed there are instances where corrupt government officials compromise judges
• Ruto was explaining an instance where a certain woman used to buy judges to get favourable rulings every time she was transferred from the Ministry of Transport
• According to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leader, such practices will come to an end under his administration

Nairobi - President William Ruto has blamed the Judiciary for being the stumbling block against the fight against corruption.

CSs sign contract at State House

Speaking on Tuesday, August 1, during the signing of performance contracts for Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries at State House, Nairobi, Ruto claimed some judges collude with corrupt government officials.

Ruto gave an example of a lady he used to work in the Ministry of Transport but was allegedly very corrupt.

The head of state claimed the lady in question used to buy off judges in case she was transferred from the ministry.

"There was a lady in the roads department, corrupt to the core but couldn't be transferred because she could go to court, buy judges and get back to work. I hope that corrupt lady no longer works for the government.

She could not be transferred by anybody, even by the minister. If she was transferred, she would go to court. That is where corruption has taken us," Ruto stated.

Mudavadi speaks on corruption

At the same event, Prime Cabinet Secretary (CS) Musalia Mudavadi said Kenyans need a solution to end corruption.

Mudavadi told Ruto to put aside promises and threats against graft individuals and act.

Mudavadi said the president needs to act decisively and tame corruption, especially in public service.

"The public is tired of our persistent appeals, pleas, demonstrations and threats against corruption. It is time to act and act decisively to end this vice, especially the temptations in public service," Mudavadi said.

The Prime CS assured Ruto that the Executive is ready to help him in the fight, questioning the missing link in dealing with graft culprits.

He cited various reports by the controller of budget and the auditor general, pinning certain individuals and state officials who have not been charged to date.
