Born in 1977 as Khia Shamone Chambers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Khia was expelled from her high school and had to enroll in an alternative school. She moved to Hawaii after the birth of her first child in 1991, a daughter she named after herself. A year later, she had her second child. Khia released her debut album in 2002. The lead single off "Thug Misses", "My Neck, My Back (Lick It)", broke into the top 50 on the charts and was featured on the soundtrack to the TV show "Dark Angel".
