Wichai Thongthan is a Thai businessman who has a net worth of $1.1 billion. Wichai Thongthan started his career as a lawyer and did well in the field representing high-powered people like Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra who was involved in an asset concealment case in 2001. But when his clients couldn't afford fees they paid him with real estate and that's how he started investing.

Thanks to his wise investments, Wichai Thongthan now sits on the boards of various listed companies including hospital company outfit Bangkok Dusit Medical, in which he and his wife own 12%. After its shares shot up in September 2012, he debuted on Thailand's richest list and they have since climbed 50% cementing his status among billionaires.
