How assailants ended Ugandan college student's life

Olinga was killed by unknown gunmen boarding a vehicle, according to police.

Authorities on top of the matter revealed the goner was shot in the chest and dying on the spot.

"On Friday night a case of murder by shooting was registered at Soroti East Division police. It's alleged that the deceased left his home at about 10pm, as he was going to join his fellow students at Cloud-9 Club for Campus night,” The Monitor quoted acting East Kyoga regional Police spokesperson ASP Edison Obukulem as saying.

According to the investigators, the deceased was in the company of a friend when the assailants appeared.

They successfully ordered Olinga's friend to give up the laptop bag he was carrying which contained a laptop, ATM card and a medical insurance card.

Olinga would however defy the order to lie down as his friend fled the area.

He was overpowered and shot dead as he fought them off.

The body lay in a pool of blood at the scene before it was picked up and ferried to the Soroti Hospital morgue for autopsy.

According to the investigators, the scene of the crime was too dark, with the assailants capitalising on it to carry out their plot.
