A heartwarming video of a police officer interacting with Mukuru kwa Njenga residents is salvaging the service's tainted image.

What did Afande Denno do?

Shared via TikTok, the short clip showed the officer, Afande Denno, cheerfully interacting with the group along a street deep in the slum.

Afande Denno, armed with a rifle, was on night patrol with a female colleague when he was stopped for greetings as he walked past what appeared to be an entertainment joint.

Soon after stopping, a crowd had milled around him, jostling to shake his hand and yearning to know how he was faring during his night patrol.

"There are flash floods; be careful out there," one is heard advising the cop.

Reacting to the clip, social media users said the officer was a rare gem and lauded his commitment to effect change through community policing.

In other news, a scuffle between members of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the National Police Service in Likoni, Mombasa ruffled Kenyans.

A video showed one of the soldiers assaulting a cop.

Kenyans criticised the KDF special forces officers for engaging in a public scuffle with police officers.
