Another tragedy has struck in Kaben village, Elgeyo Marakwet as bandits attacked.

The bandits tried to escape with unknown number of cattle as police watched.

Police reports indicate that the bandits participated in a 30-minute gunfight in the village, causing alarm among residents.

Following the confrontation, the armed bandits fled into the dense vegetation, prompting law enforcement to initiate a search operation.

As of now, it remains unclear if there were any casualties during the raid on Friday.

The fight against banditry in parts of the North Rift appears far from over if the recent criminal activities in the volatile region are anything to go by.

Banditry in Elgeyo Marakwet

On January 9, a four-year-old girl was involved in a shooting spree by bandits and witnessed the killing of her parents and brother on Tuesday, January 9.

The child survived the bullets after she fainted and was soaked in blood, leaving the bandits to think they had wiped out the whole family.

According to eyewitnesses, the girl was soaked in blood from head to toe and was lying next to her dead mother's body.

On April 2023, reports were saying that at least two persons have been killed and two others severely injured in a banditry attack in Samburu West constituency.

However, no livestock was stolen during the Tuesday night incident amid an ongoing military operation in the region.
