How 13-year-old boy drowned in Bomet

Citizen Digital reported that the three people suffocated to death inside a half-full well on Saturday, May 12.

Sotik sub-county police commander Muturi Mbogo said the incident happened after a 13-year-old boy sent to fetch water from the well accidentally dropped the can he was using to draw water inside the hole.

The 13-year-old boy submerged and drowned while trying to chase the can.

A neighbour, aged 45, drowned as well while trying to rescue the boy after he heard a wild cry inside the well.

A third victim, a 24-year-old boda boda rider who was the first to witness the two incidents, tried to rescue them but got entangled inside the well and drowned.

The three bodies were retrieved and moved to Kaplong Mission Hospital mortuary, awaiting a postmortem.

How did the two sisters drown?

In other sad news, two sisters drowned in a river on Wednesday, May 8, as they were attempting to cross River Ndarugu in Njoro Sub-County in Nakuru.

The sisters, identified as Faith Cheptoo, 17, and Sharon Chepng'etich, 15, are from the Nessuit location in Njoro Sub County.

According to a report by Citizen Digital, the area chief, Douglas Muna, said the two were in the company of another girl who had already crossed the river.

Chepng'etich slipped after stepping on a slippery rock as they looked for safer rocks to cross.

They both drowned after her sister attempted to rescue her when they were overwhelmed by the water.
