Nairobi - Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has come under criticism online following his latest university appointments.

In a post shared on X, flamboyant city lawyer Donald Kipkorir called out the CS for what he claimed to be favouritism on the CS's part.

The lawyer explained that state officers have been able to getaway with such skewed appointments because of no consequences.

He called on President William Ruto to sack the CS and added that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) should arrest him.

"State Officers in Kenya have no shame because there is no sanction. Education Minister Ezekiel Machogu wakes up on a Friday morning & decides to appoint Kisii only to head each Public University. President William Ruto must fire Machogu & @EACCKenya must arrest him. INSANITY!" he wrote.

@JaokooMoses:

"Article 232 expressly provides that the public service should be representative of the diverse Kenyan communities. Article 10 obligates public institutions to promote inclusiveness, non-discrimination and protection of the vulnerable and marginalized groups."

@Noahkip3:

"This is utter impunity, how much did Machogu buy this Government with?"

@jeffm2020:

"Some village kiosks in my rural kiangwaci run better than this country at the moment. This is completely out of control."

@HassanHuss63932:

"Not only him, but all Cabinet secretaries must thoroughly consider the diversity of their office staff. We advocate for inclusivity to ensure representation from all communities, allowing every Kenyan to feel a sense of ownership as a taxpayer.

Robert Alai slams CS Machogu

In a separate incident, Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai slammed Machogu's remarks over the Nyanza region's two operational factories.

Machogu claimed the region contributed less than 1% to the development of the country's manufacturing sector.

Refuting his claims, Alai listed close to 10 factories distributed across the Nyanza region, questioning the research done by the CS.

Alai dismissed the remarks, adding that CS could know better by virtue of his sitting in the Executive arm of government.

He listed key factories in Kisumu, Migori and Homa Bay counties, including the Getonganya Sweet Potato Processing Factory in Kuria.
